Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is a private, non-profit organization established in 1995 by His Highness The Amir, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned is the chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and personally guides the organization’s direction and programs.

Qatar Foundation’s mission is to prepare the people of Qatar and the region to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world, and to make Qatar a leader in innovative education and research. In achieving this mission, the Foundation adheres to the principle that a nation’s greatest natural resource is its people.

Many of Qatar Foundation’s member organizations are located in Education City. Situated on the periphery of Doha, the site covers 14 million square meters and houses educational facilities which range from school age to research level, including branch campuses of some of the world’s leading universities. This bold venture aims to be the blueprint for academic excellence in the GCC by instructing students in subjects of critical importance to the region.

Education City is also conceived of as a forum, where universities can share facilities and research and forge relationships with businesses and other institutions. Qatar Science and Technology Park and Sidra Medical and Research Center are two of the latest developments in Qatar Foundation’s strategy to transform the country into one of the world’s leading knowledge-based societies.

Across the board, Qatar Foundation is making a tremendous investment in the people of Qatar and the region. By supporting education and innovative research, existing industries will advance and new ones will be created. By investing in community health and development, the quality of life across the region will improve. Qatarization policy at Qatar Foundation

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development follows an ambitious and proactive Qatarization policy, aiming to recruit Qatari nationals with a range of skills and different levels of education and to give them priority in all positions. The Foundation also provides nationals with excellent training opportunities to equip them for roles as managers and leaders within the Foundation.

Qatar Foundation is a large, wide-ranging organization; it can therefore offer a variety of positions. In order to implement its policy of Qatarization, the Foundation has established a range of initiatives. In addition, Qatar Foundation provides Qatari employees with a professional development plan, tailored to their qualifications and experience, to enable them to face the challenges of the future and help with their advancement and promotion.

Furthermore, Qatar Foundation offers all Qataris the opportunity to continue their education at university depending on their qualifications and the needs of the Foundation.

QatarPetroleum(QP)is a state-owned corporation established by Emiri Decree No.10 in1974 and is responsible for all phases of the oil and gas industry in Qatar.The Chairman and Managing Director of the corporation is H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry.

The principal activities of QP and it’s affiliated companies covers exploration, drilling and production operations, transport, storage, marketing and the sale of crude oil, natural gas liquids, liquid natural gas, gas-to-liquid fuels, rened products, petrochemicals and fertilizers, and providing helicopter services.Qatar Petroleum strategy of conducting hydro carbon exploration and new projects is through exploration, development and production sharing agreements with major international oil and gas companies.The operations and activities of Qatar Petroleum are conducted at various onshore locations, which include Doha, Dukhan, Mesaieed and Ras Laffan industrial cities, as well as offshore including offshore production stations, drilling platforms and the North Gas Field as well as Halul Island.

The Corporation is a leading partner in the Energy and Industry Sector Five-year Strategic Qatarization Plan and continues to achieve progress in terms of mobilization of resources, close liaison and coordination between the Energy and Industry Sector and other ministries and the local education community, to ensure a better understanding between the Corporation demands and the Qatari supply.

Qatarization at QP is stated as one of the Corporate Objectives. QP’s focus is on Quality Qatarization. The Corporation is committed to Qatarization and the requirement to identify and prepare quality Qataris to meet the demands of the various elements of its business.

Departments regularly review their Qatarization plans and translate these plans into practical and realistic actions through a number of training and development activities. The objective is to qualify Qataris into various positions throughout the organization. In addition to working with new Qatari hires and preparing them for their future careers, QP places focus on its current Qatari staff to consolidate their competence and prepare them for their assigned duties.

Departments accomplish the Corporate Qatarization objective through a variety of initiatives including an aggressive recruitment campaign, training courses, career planning and effective, but accelerated development programs.

QP sponsors several hundreds of Qatari university students each year to study in a variety of disciplines at universities in Qatar and abroad.

Corporate Training (CT) plays an important role by recruiting several hundreds of Qatari students each year as Trainees and provides them with effective high quality training programs to meet the Qatarization needs. Plans are in place in Qatar Petroleum for new, state of the art training facilities in Dukhan, Mesaieed, Ras Laffan and Doha.

CT has also adopted an e-learning management system giving access to employees to enhance their skills through using this flexible training media.

The Corporation supports student internship programs for high school and university students. The programs reinforce the value of students. understanding of the work environment, and helps them gain an appreciation of the required skills and expectations. This experience is essential to improving the transition from student to employee.

Founded in 1977, Qatar University (QU)is Qatar’s leading institution of higher education committed to fostering an intellectual and scholarly community characterized by teaching excellence as well as free and respectful exchange of ideas. QU deeply believes in the necessity to serve the needs of its students and the requirements of the Qatari community and labor market. It offers over 60 academic programs in six colleges: the College of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Shariaa and Islamic Studies, the College of Engineering, the College of Business and Economics, and the College of Law.

Among institutions of higher education in Qatar, QU offers the widest and most diverse range of academic programs that support the University’s interdisciplinary approach by emphasizing collaborative inquiry and fostering a true learning community with the aim to develop the skills students need to function well in a complex, team -oriented workplace.

Qatar University also enjoys an advanced and established research infrastructure including a large number of advanced labs, an ocean vessel, sophisticated research equipment, and the largest library in Qatar with rare manuscripts and invaluable resources. QU’s research capacities serve the research requirements of local industries and provide students with an optimal environment for hands-on research experience.

Over the decades, Qatar University succeeded in establishing strong ties with the local community and industries and helped its students and graduates in gaining valuable local experience through relevant research projects. Additionally, QU’s role as a beacon of knowledge to the Qatari industry and society exposes students to industry specific issues and gives them a deeper understanding of the local peculiarities of their own specializations.

Admitting around 70% of Qatari high school graduates, QU remains the primary choice for university-bound Qatari students and is an indispensable partner in the Qatarization efforts of local companies and institutions. W ith an ambitious reform project and increased focus on English language, IT skills, and a new core curriculum program that prepares well-rounded high-achieving individuals, QU’s graduates are demonstrating increasingly higher performance levels in the job market. Most Colleges at QU are now in the process of seeking or nalizing their own top-standard international accreditations following the footsteps of the College of Engineering which achieved its ABET international accreditation.
